TemperanceFestoon Publishing is pleased to be associated with the first book release of Anna Saal, who has written her first book titled “Temperance.”

Like most people, we all have a story to tell and Anna is no exception. She was inspired to write this book on the prompting of others as it is the type of book that not only leaves a lasting impression on the reader, but gives much needed guidance to those who see the misuse in the consumption of alcohol as something that is “cool” for the unaware.

This book sets out to educate everyday people, young and old, about the dangers that are attached to the over-consumption of alcohol. Anna has seen it all.

The story behind the book didn’t just start when Anna decided to write – she draws her information from a history of family experiences that extends back through generations of family, friends and acquaintances, and then culminates in her own experiences as a laboratory technician in a malt processing plant, and then onto counselling with her husband for the alcohol addicted.

It would be fair to say that having to work with alcohol dependent men and women trying to get their lives back together again, would have been a strong motivator for Anne to take the time to do the research and write the book. Prevention of alcohol abuse in the first place is far wiser than having to deal with shipwrecked lives at the other end of the sorry saga, for not only is there the addiction that has to be dealt with, but also the relationships that have been destroyed along with it that has to be restored where possible.

In a day when good advise is sadly lacking in a predominately hedonistic society, this book will be a real life-saver for some. It has been written with the young teenager in mind who is wanting answers but not getting the information that he’s looking for amongst his peers.

The book launch was held at the Kingaroy Library on the 25th of May and was attended by the author (Anne), her editor Kylie, the Mayor of the South Burnett Regional Council, Kathy Duff, Jordan Holden who illustrated the book, and several others who came along to help mark this wonderful occasion. Anne spoke with humility giving thanks and appreciation to all those who helped her and gave encouragement.

The book has now gone into its first reprint with many people seeing the book as an excellent gift for children, particularly children and young adults that are entering into a time when peer pressure drives many into making unwise decisions about their lives and the potential dangers encountered through excessive alcohol consumption.

A copy of the book was kindly given to the Kingaroy library by Anna – for those who cannot afford to purchase a copy of their own – such is her desire to help young people before they become addicted to alcohol.
