Description
This is the true story (alive with embellishments) about an elderly lady who was living alone during the early 1950’s in Sydney Australia, who had the grave misfortune of having her pet cat die. She wanted to give it a good burial – one filled with dignity and honour – befitting such a loyal and comforting friend of so many years.
It might be just a cat to you or me, but to this dear old lady, this was like a dear member of her precious family that she was having to dispose of. Ugh!, the very word ‘dispose’ was so inappropriate for such a dear and beloved friend that Tiddles (the cat) had become.
Although the contents of this book is but a snapshot of a few days in the life Aunt Mabel, it is nevertheless quite an adventure for her as she begins to dignify what would otherwise be a rather ‘crude’ affair – getting rid of a dead cat.
The emotional struggles are real. In some ways (unless we’re completely heartless) we can identify with this sweet little old lady as she finally – at her wits end – sees her beloved cat “being taken care of.”
At the conclusion of this story, another story begins. The author has given ample room for the imagination of the reader to create their own ‘embellishment’ to this yarn.
A story for teens and adults alike who enjoy a good yarn.
